Elements Chunkies feature glassy crystals added to some of the Elements’ base glazes. The crystals create sooty, charred effects in the finished glaze, simulating specialty higher fire looks. As with Elements, the level of variegation exhibited by the glaze is influenced by factors such as the number of coats applied, combinations with other glazes, surface textures on the clay body, and firing temperatures.

Cone 06 oxidation (first photo): Glowing Embers is a matte, variegated brownish taupe glaze with an orangish brown stain. It has small and medium tan crystals.

Cone 6 oxidation: Base glaze changes to gold/brown and breaks over texture; crystals become brown. Enhanced mobility. Surface issues may occur.

TIP: This glaze WILL move. Take care when using on vertical pieces reduce glaze thickness towards the bottom third to minimize run-off. This glaze will pinhole at three coats.
